The UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia), under the umbrella of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), has participated in a special session organised by the Arab Water Council, under the theme ‘Water Technology and Sustainable Development in the Arab World.’   The session was organised as part of the International Conference on Sustainable Water Resources Management, organised by the National Water Research Center in Cairo, Egypt.

The UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia), under the umbrella of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), has received 137 applications to participate in the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award. The Award is worth USD 1 million and aims to find solutions to the global problem of water scarcity. Suqia announced that registration for the award is now closed, following the deadline being extended to 30 September 2016. The award gained interest from leading corporations, research centres, institutions and innovators from around the world to compete to find sustainable and innovative solar-energy solutions for water scarcity.

The UAE Water Aid Foundation’s (Suqia) board of trustees held its 8th meeting at the headquarters of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). The meeting was chaired by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the board of trustees of Suqia, and attended by HE Humaid Rashid Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary General of Emirates Red Crescent for international aid and Vice Chairman of the Board at Suqia, HE Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Baili, Deputy Vice Chairman for Academic Affairs and Provost of United Arab Emirates University, HE Dr. Arif Al Hammadi, Executive Vice President of Khalifa University, Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Strategy & Business Development at DEWA, Nasser Lootah, Executive Vice President of Generation at DEWA, Mohammed Abdulkareem Al Shamsi, Acting Executive Director of Suqia, and Fahad Abdullah bin Afira Al Falasi, Acting Secretary of the board of trustees of Suqia.

The UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia), won first place for their water purification unit in the Carbon Ambassadors Programme 2015-2016 during the 18th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) 2016, which was held recently under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of DEWA.
